RELIGIOUS ACCOMMODATIONS AND HOLIDAYS*

Emory University seeks to create a campus climate that is welcoming and inclusive of religious, philosophical, and non-religious diversity. Emory seeks to provide reasonable accommodation for the sincerely held religious beliefs and practices of students, unless such accommodation would impose an undue hardship. The university Religious Accommodation Policy is Emory Policy 10.17.

To request religious accommodation, students must notify their faculty or program leaders at the beginning of the semester or when they become aware of any religious observances that conflict with their classes/clinicals by submitting a School of Nursing (SON) Religious Accommodation Form [AD2] at least two weeks before the 1st requested date. Completing the form past that timeframe may make it difficult for the University to accommodate a request. Students can access the Religious Accommodation form in each Canvas Course by going to the Getting Help Page. Upon completing the form, the course faculty will be notified of the accommodation request and will contact the student with next steps.

Students are asked to submit a Religious Accommodation form for each course in which the student is requesting the accommodation. Students are asked to submit a Religious Accommodation form each semester for each course in which an accommodation is being requested. Please note that a religious accommodation could impact clinical scheduling and extend the length of your program of study. In situations where the faculty or program leads could benefit from additional consultation about an accommodation request, the Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) (religiouslife@emory.edu) can serve as a resource. If the faculty or program leads determine that an accommodation request should be denied, they must first consult the Associate Dean of Education and Sr. Associate Dean of Enrollment, Student Affairs, and Organizational Engagement or their respective designee before a final determination is communicated to the student
